GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

 Article X of the Olmsted Falls Kiwanis Club’s Bylaws and Policies provides for sponsored youth committees.  Boys and Girls Committee is one of the youth sponsored groups.

This committee’s primary function is to support the young men and women of the Olmsted Community

Each member of the committee is assigned a special function to be carried out during the Fiscal year.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

While recruitment of new members is a club function, the M & G Committee is responsible for the training of potential and new members.  This committee is also responsible for encouraging and/or working with long-standing members to help bring new members into an active and fulfilling Kiwanis experience both in service and fellowship.

This committee is responsible for arranging a membership information booth at club sponsored events, as well as encouraging the development of both ideas and activities which will assist in re-energizing members who have become inactive in club activities.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Kiwanis members:

Work with Fitch and St. Mary of the Falls K-Kids Advisor in setting the annual schedule.

Work with Fitch and St. Mary of the Falls in submitting an annual application in October with Kiwanis International.

• Attend Monthly meetings
• Turn in monthly committee reports and attendance.
• Attend K-Kids events as needed.
• Submit K-Kids annual budget.
• Submit K-Kids expense as approved by committee and board (over $100.00 request).

Stand up at regular meetings to announce K-Kids meeting and good for makeup.

K-Kids consists of 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th graders who, like Builders club, run their own clubs

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Implement projects that support spiritual development, provide human companionship and comfort, or offer counseling and guidance.

Projects can encourage interfaith and Interdenominational religious activity, such as prayer, but should not support a specific religious sect.

Popular projects include prayer breakfasts, the layman of the year awards, transportation to religious services, visits nursing homes, and support of grief counseling.

This committee also awards a “Layman of the Year” award to a member who is active in his/her own place of worship as well as exemplifying the moral characteristics to lead or be involved in activities like those described above.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Encourage club members to participate in “Interclubs”.  By this it is meant that the members of this committee are to obtain a commitment from four or more of our members to visit another club.
   1. Kiwanis Club
   2. Key Club
   3. Builders Club
   4. K-Kids Club
   5. Action Club

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Responsible for preparing a budget of estimated income and expenses for submission to the board of directors.

Any recommendations it may have on financial matters of the club.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Promotes “Esprit-de-Corp” throughout the club by promoting social events for club members, including spouses, relatives, and friends.

Activities include, but are not limited to sporting events, plays and concerts, dinners, Family “Game Night” and various other outings and trips and informal seasonal parties.

It is the committee’s responsibility to make all arrangements for outings including payments, deposits, etc. and to collect all necessary funds from members to cover such costs.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Advise Key Club and help them to provide service to the community.

Members will attend Key Club meeting 2 times a month.

Spend budgeted monies on their activities.

Members also attend their outside activities as chaperones.

Chaperone Key Clubbers at Key Club Convention.

Present past and new officers with gifts.

Give Graduation stoles to Seniors who have been in Key Club 3 years and ACTIVE members.

Spend money on budgeted items; which carry over every year.

Provide direction as to programs and activities that need to be completed.

Prepare yearly budget.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

It is the responsibility of Ways and Means to secure funding to meet the appropriate budget requirements. This can be done through re-occurring, ongoing or one-time fundraising projects.

Even though Ways and Means is ultimately responsible for all aspects of fundraising,

Ways and Means Committee’s duties are not exclusive to the committee.  It is the club’s responsibility to support Ways and Means in every way possible to ensure the committee’s success and ultimately the club’s success.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

“A child’s personality and future is determined in the first 2000 days of his/her life”

The Committee on Young Children: Priority One should implement projects to children, prenatal through age five.  Projects can address maternal and child health, child care, early development, nutrition, parenting education and support, advocacy, pediatric trauma, or safety.  Popular projects include encourage literacy, assisting child care and Head Start programs, distributing the “home-safety checklist, educating the public about Shaken Baby Syndrome, and building or repairing playgrounds and the car seat program where parents in need may receive a car seat and anyone can learn how to properly install a car seat.

While we concentrate on prenatal through age five YCPO will help older children when the need is there and other committee resources are limited.

We seek to have projects to improve children’s health, safety, developmental opportunities, and parental involvement.  Each year there are new children born who need our help.  Some need what we have done in the past.  Others will need help we can provide through new and innovative projects.

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

The Program Committee provides 15-30 minute programs (or presentations or entertainment) for most of our weekly meetings.  The program is the final part of our meeting and should end at 8:00 p.m.  The committee searches for, and solicits possible programs from various sources, including, but not limited to:

• Our own members and speakers
• Business and Social contacts of committee members, our club members, and other club members.
• Ideas from other organizations, TV, news, family, etc.

Programs should be of interest to most of the membership.  They should not be from people whose primary interest is to solicit money from our club or individuals.

Personal accounts tend to make the most interesting programs – such as travels or war experience.

The program schedule should be filled in as far in advance as possible in order to provide adequate notice to members who may wish to invite guests.

Spiritual programs before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter (at least 2 of the 3), as well as the Layman of the Year program, are the responsibility of the Spiritual Aims Committee.

Certain times of the year are generally reserved for “annual” programs such as President’s Farewell Address, New Teacher Night, Layman of the Year, and others.  The previous year’s Program Calendar should be consulted in order to reserve these nights.

Meetings held “offsite” are encouraged for each year, and are arranged by the Program Committee except for Installation, Holiday, and special Club dinner/functions which are planned by the President.

A designated “Introducer” should obtain biographical information about the speaker in advance.

The Bulletin Editor must be given enough information for the Newsletter no later than the meeting one week prior to the particular program.

This committee is responsible for helping to ensure that the public receives, through the media and other means, the objects, goals, programs, and achievements of Kiwanis International and the club.

Projects include:

• Repair of Community Welcome signs
• Senior Citizens Luncheon
• Heritage Days Sponsorship
• Support of Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
• Falls Day in The Park

School Function:

• Support of High School Forensics Tournament
• Art display at High School
• Parade Activities and Giveaways
• Christmas Lighting Contest
• Host Division Council Meeting
• Support of Irish American Club and Chamber of Commerce Membership
• Vial of Life Program
• Money for Fire Department for smoke detector batteries and CPR dummies
• Support of KW storage shed project
• Support of Christians in Action Food Collection / Giveaway
• Support of Cub and Boy Scouts
• Candidates Night for local elections
• Support Make a Difference Day
• Assist Builders and Key Club in community activities – leaf raking, etc.
• Support of Community Center – chair donation
• Provide money for St. Mary of Falls – Science lab, lunch tables
• Portable wheelchair ramp project.

(and just about anything else Kiwanis does to benefit the community and promote its image therein)

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE

Devise Ways and Means to establish and support Builders Clubs in middle school and St Mary of the Falls.

Builders’ Club members consist of 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th graders who run their own clubs much like the Kiwanis club, with officers and members. They arrange their own fundraisers and service projects and carry them out with the supervision of advisors and Kiwanis members.

Encourage and promote the activities of all Builders Clubs sponsored by the club.

The committee should include the Kiwanis club advisor to sponsored Builders Clubs.
